Protest against New York Governor Cuomo’s Charter School sell-out

April 10th, 4pm - Hundreds of New Yorkers gathered on the steps of the New York Public Library in a show of opposition to the state budget deal that passed last month in the NY State Senate. The crowd was demonstrating specifically against the charter school deal, pushed by Governor Cuomo, which expands the space of privately owned charter schools on public school campuses.

UFAA activists and candidate for New York Governor, Randy Credico, descended on the event with flyers to promote Randy’s campaign and to show solidarity with the anti-charter school protestors. Over 300 flyers, with a cartoon of Randy Credico “letting the air out” of the Cuomo campaign, were distributed.

The event carried on into the early evening with a march to Governor Cuomo’s New York City office where noisemaking and bull horning ensued. It dwindled out around 7pm.

The event was run by the Citywide Education Councils (CECs)
